“Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is either good or bad.”
– Salvador Dali
Pen drawing is simple. No special preparation required. It’s portable. You can do it anywhere anytime and carry everything you need in a small backpack. It’s meditative. You need to to fill large areas with repeated strokes, so you get into a rhythm and forget about other things… kind of like a colouring book. The finished product always catches you by surprise. You’re busy focusing on the minutiae and then before you know it, you’re finished and the thousands of tiny strokes make a picture with a sense of light and three dimensionality. To draw something accurately requires you to deeply observe and ponder every detail of that thing until you know it intimately.
