The First Magnolia

A drawing of a magnolia flower in a jar of water by Jarrod Hall

The first white magnolia flower of spring, 2016. I really enjoyed drawing the distortion of the stalk through the glass jar and the water on this one – it was difficult but I love the end result. The white magnolia are one of the first flowers you see in South Korea at the end of the winter and you know that once you see them, the cherry blossoms aren’t far behind. The jar is from Paris Baguette, a popular chain bakery store in Seoul that does Asian/French fusion style bread and pastries.
