Jarrod Hall is an Ballarat artist who creates beautiful, renaissance style oil paintings on commission.

Creating a unique renaissance style oil painting using the classic techniques

Jarrod applies oil paints using a method similar to that used during the Renaissance.

It’s a painstaking process of gradually building up an image using multiple layers of thin paint. The whole painting is effectively created at least three times, one on top of the other.

The first layer is in sepia tone, the next in black and white and after that in full colour.

The paint is slightly transparent so the three layers work together to give the painting a unique luminous quality and sense of depth.

The end result is guaranteed to be a conversation starter and lend elegance and tranquility to any room.

Timeframe for commissioned paintings

Several completed paintings are available to purchase now or you can commission him to create a unique artwork for you.

Due to the nature of the technique used, they take approximately nine months to create (depending on the size) so book in early!
